THE ADAPT AAU EXPERIENCE

The ultimate summer training and exposure experience for hoopers around the globe.

There's not much better you can do to support your development on and off the court as a young basketball player than to travel to a brand new country for two weeks, train in a gym with expert coaches and various athletes from across the world, experience a new style of basketball, gain exposure at a tournament in front of college basketball coaches, and gain invaluable life skills.

Our AAU Experience and Summer Academy brings this to life. Last year, we had athletes travel in from 5 continents and 15 countries join our program, and the experience was second-to-none. Players were able to:

• Engage in an unmatched training experience and soak up a ton of basketball knowledge.

• Build lasting connections with other athletes from across the globe.

• Gain experience and exposure in the American basketball scene.

• Develop as independent, responsible young men.

This is so much more than just a training experience, and we're excited to welcome you in for this year's group!

Keep in mind that this is for dedicated players only, and we request that athletes have at least a few years' experience to join the ADAPT Experience.

HOW IT LOOKS:

PART 1: SUMMER ACADEMY EXPERIENCE

For the first week and a half of the experience, the athletes will prepare in South Florida at our headquarters gym, DETAIL Miami. During this time, athletes will partake in an extensive but unique and carefully planned training regimen while also practicing as a team, bonding, and exploring a new city together.

Athletes stay in our academy house with the other athletes and one of our coaches in the Miami Lakes area - one of the safest and nicest neighborhoods in South Florida. Keep in mind that, although our staff will be there for you if you need anything and we provide all food and transportation, we also emphasize independence, as athletes are expected to clean up after themselves, do their own laundry, wake up on time, budget finances with their dinner card, and build bonds with the other athletes from other cultures! They're not alone here, though, as our staff is trained and experienced in helping them make a big step in their life. This is something that has helped develop hundreds of athletes as independent young men over the last four years, and that parents rave about after their athlete returns home!

THE DETAILS:

  • Food: each day, athletes are provided with breakfast, lunch at the gym, and brought to a variety of restaurants for dinners.

  • Transit: each morning, our coaches will drive athletes to the gym, as well as to and from the airport in specific time slots!

  • Experiences: after workouts and on weekends, athletes will partake in 1-2 outside experiences per week. Some weeks, they'll go sightseeing in Miami and relax on the beach, other weeks they'll head to different basketball courts, and more! These are optional for players who are tired from training and would rather relax at the academy house.

  • Media & Content: members may be featured in ADAPT Academy content and will receive access to photos and videos from the camp for their personal use.

PART 2: THE TOURNAMENT

After an intense preparation period, the team will travel by plane to an AAU tournament, where they'll compete against teams at their level from all around the USA. These tournaments are incredible experiences for international athletes, where they'll play 3-6 games in unique environments, in front of college coaches (if performance warrants), and enjoy the experience of being in a new city with their team.

FAQ's

When is the best time to come in and leave Miami? Athletes are recommended to arrive in Miami on the Sunday before their week begins, and leave on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning for ease of stay and acclimation.

How do I get from the airport to the house or gym? We'll have designated pickup times every ~3 hours for athletes to be picked up from the airport!

What level of players attend Summer Academy? One of the beauties about our Summer Academy is how diverse it is, not only in terms of location and demographics, but skillset! In 2025, we had over ten current college players participate, but also had middle schoolers and everything in between! Plus, you'll be fully integrated with everyone as a part of the experience! So no matter the skill level, you're welcome. This isn't solely for elite athletes, although we certainly have them in the gym as a part of the experience.

Who are the coaches? Along with By Any Means Basketball founder and head trainer Coleman Ayers, we have a team of five full-time, experienced, coaches on board at DETAIL Miami during the summer, and ensure that we carefully select and screen our additional coaches with extensive interviews, background checks, and more. Our team has worked with thousands of players worldwide, from NBA players all the way down to beginners, so it's safe to say we are quite experienced with the entire spectrum. We truly take pride in maintaining a high level of organization, attention to detail, and precision not only on the court with training, but off the court as we take care of the athletes day-to-day.

What's the food situation? Each week, we grocery shop for athletes based on their requests to ensure they have breakfast and snack items available throughout the day. At lunch time, we have a set schedule of healthy offerings that we bring to the gym, and for dinners (where coaches will usually take athletes to a restaurant), we provide players with a pre-paid debit card for them to cover these meals. This is more than enough to cover the dinners, weekend lunches, and additional snacks, and makes it super easy for all of our athletes.
