WHAT IS BY ANY MEANS BASKETBALL?

BAM is a coaching and media organization aiming to bring top tier, innovative basketball development to every coach and player in the global hoops community.

Basketball is still an incredibly young sport and industry, so we're looking to push boundaries in every facet, rather than subscribing to "what has worked" in the past.

This includes:

Learning from, blending, and bringing together basketball cultures around the world.
Diving into the research behind skill acquisition to understand how athletes best develop skill.
Integrating psychology, performance and movement training, and more to holistically develop every athlete.

This far transcends the court, though.

Basketball is a game that truly has a special power to bring people together and facilitate unbelievable personal growth and exciting opportunities. We've made it our mission to leverage the sport we all love to bring communities, share powerful stories, and build basketball cultures as a whole to unlock opportunities that may have never been there without an orange leather ball.

Here's a bit more about how we started, what we've done, and where we're going:

WHO IS COLEMAN AYERS?

Coleman launched By Any Means as a high schooler in 2015, with a mission to change the world with basketball and innovate how the game is seen and trained.

As a naturally ungifted athlete growing up in Washington, DC, one of the world's prominent metro areas for basketball, like many of us, he was forced to earn every bit of success that came his way on the court. Through countless hours of training and extensive research to optimize the process, Coleman fell in love with the feeling of discovering new methods, applying them, and seeing the results - something that quickly led to more high-level local athletes joining in his training and similarly seeing big leaps.

After finishing his career as a conference champion at St. John's College High School where he was the only non-Division 1 player, Coleman had two options: to continue his playing career at his choice of Division 3 college and continue chasing the lifelong dream that he had worked so hard for, or to make the tough decision to put away the playing career and get an early start on something that he considered to be his life's calling:

Helping others become better basketball players, and better humans.

He chose the latter and never looked back, moving to Miami to briefly work with the University of Miami Basketball program, study exercise physiology, and get a fresh start developing youth athletes in a brand new city, all while conducting hours of daily research to develop and sharpen new methods, coaching at multiple high schools in the South Florida area, traveling the world to learn from the best in a wide variety of fields, and sharing his thoughts and results on social media.

Since then, Coleman and By Any Means have evolved quite a bit.

DETAIL Miami

In 2021, we launched a project to convert an old warehouse in Miami Lakes, Florida into a global hoops HQ, and it's gone further than we can ever imagine.

Global Growth

After our first international camp in Mexico during summer of 2021, we've conducted coaches' education initiatives, camps, and nonprofit projects in 34 countries.

ADAPT Academy

Looking to combine the European and American models of development and build a truly unique club culture, we founded ADAPT Academy in 2024.

Now, in 2025, By Any Means has grown to a team of over ten full-time employees, five locations and counting, and has expanded into realms that we would've never expected when struggling to find gym time and build a sustainable business in 2020.

The team at DETAIL Miami works with 200+ youth athletes, both locally and from over 20 countries around the world, on a yearly basis, as well as 20+ college and professional players for their off-season training and consulting.

Coleman authored Deep Skill, a full guide on basketball-specific skill acquisition principles that reached number one in the Basketball Coaching category on Amazon.

Developed strategic partnerships with both the NBA and EuroLeague to grow the game.

Through our ADAPT International Gold program, we scholarship high-level hoopers from countries across the world to train at our DETAIL Miami Summer Academy and play in elite AAU tournaments for development and exposure to American basketball.

Our Coaches team ran two revolutionary Player Development Conferences in Los Angeles and Miami, bringing together some of the best in the industry and combined crowds of over 150 coaches and trainers from around the globe.
